The Murphy bed frame consists of two parts: the mount and the mattress carriage.

The Mount MUST be bolted or otherwise constrained to the floor.  Wood bolts or concrete bolts are the most direct way.

You could "rig up" something that would bolt to the wall, but a bit of engineering (and some extra parts) would be required.

The base of the mount is what allows the springs to counterbalance the weight of the mattress.  It must be secured.

The mattress carriage simply drops into the mount/base.

The mattress carriage has a strap that keeps the mattress with the carriage during lift/lower.

The mount/carriage system essentially sits independently from the furniture.

This is the base by itself.  The 16" legs anchor the springs that support the weight of the bed when it is being lowered or raised.

I used two lag bolts on each side.  Carpet damage was essentially the 3/8" hole from the bolts.

You could rig it to the wall.

This is looking down on the top panel that spans between the side dressers.  The light fixtures can accept LED bulbs (it's extremely simply to put in completely new fixtures).

A series of screws on either side secure the panel to the side dressers.
